John brings over 16 years of financial planning experience from his tenure at Merrill Lynch, TD Ameritrade, and independent planning firms in the Bay Area. He holds both CFP and GFP designations, and earned his BS in Psychology from the University of Iowa, with minors in Philosophy and French.
John is an intensely creative professional who is energetic in the application of modern financial planning principles in the service of his clientele. Currently, John is co-located in Lisbon, Portugal, and San Francisco, California. His family lives in Lisbon, and they enjoy exploring continental Europe, meeting new friends, and learning new languages.
Jess Roberson serves as a Relationship Manager at WHVP, where he oversees client relationships, contributes to investment research and portfolio management, and handles key operational tasks. His broad involvement reflects his strategic insight and commitment to client success.
Jess began his career at WHVP in 2021 as a Summer Intern and steadily advanced through roles including Executive Assistant and Junior Relationship Manager before assuming his current position in 2025. His background prior to finance includes working in client services across various industries, most notably as a Community Development Coordinator for an international NGO in the South Pacific.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance with a specialized focus on International Business from Southern New Hampshire University. As a former Swiss national rugby player, Jess brings energy, discipline, and a global perspective to his work. He is a native English speaker and conversationally fluent in German.
